SUMMARY:Art in The Stacks with Tammy Kessner - The Veil
DESCRIPTION:What if the ordinary is just a veil\, a thin layer of reality that disguises the wonders beneath? What if the world holds whispers of the extraordinary\, waiting to be unveiled? As an artist\, I stand on the precipice of the known and the unknown\, using resin and sculpture not just as mediums\, but as conduits to explore the profound themes of observation and mystery. \nIn my work\, I delve deeply into the concept that “someone is always watching.” It’s a haunting thought that echoes through the corridors of our lives\, a reminder that we are never truly alone. With every layer of resin I pour and each sculptural form I create\, I invite viewers to engage in this dialogue of awareness. Who is watching? What do they see? Are they protectors\, observers\, or perhaps something more enigmatic? I encourage the audience to confront their own feelings of vulnerability and empowerment as they navigate the intricate dance of visibility and invisibility. \nEqually central to my practice is the theme of “The Beautiful Unknown.” What if we embraced uncertainty and approached it with open hearts and mind’s .My work is a vessel for the uncharted territories of existence\, capturing the essence of beauty in the ambiguity of what lies ahead. I am inspired by the infinite possibilities of life—by the idea that every moment is a canvas waiting to be filled with experiences that are both thrilling and terrifying. \nUsing resin\, a material that transforms from liquid into a solid that encapsulates and preserves\, I seek to capture fleeting moments of beauty and the potential for transformation. My creations shimmer with both clarity and depth\, inviting viewers to peer into their layered worlds and discover the stories hidden within. \nThe influences that shape my artistic vision are rooted in a relentless curiosity about what exists beyond our immediate perceptions. I ponder the hidden watchers—those forces and figures that seem to monitor our journeys from the shadows—while simultaneously contemplating the beauty that arises when we embrace the unknown without fear. It is this blend of intrigue and vulnerability that I infuse into every piece\, crafting a narrative that resonates with the viewer’s own experiences of observation and discovery. \nMy artistic process is inherently intentional. Each work I create is imbued with a message\, a whisper of thought designed to provoke reflection and dialogue. I see my Canvas work and Sculptures as more than mere objects; they are dynamic expressions of the human condition\, urging us to examine not only the art itself but also our place within this intricate tapestry of existence. \nAs I invite you to explore my work\, I ask: What if you allowed yourself to embrace the watchers\, the uncertainties\, and the beauty of the unknown? What if you dared to confront the layers of your own reality? My creations are an invitation to embark on this journey—a journey filled with questions that may never fully be answered\, but that ultimately lead us to deeper understanding and connection. \nIn this ever-evolving landscape of thought and feeling\, I hope my art resonates with your own curiosities and inspires you to look beyond the surface. Together\, let us explore the beautiful unknown\, and in doing so\, find solace in the knowledge that we are all\, in one way or another\, both watchers and the watched.

SUMMARY:Author Visit with Jason K. Bussman
DESCRIPTION:In “Fumble”\, Bussman takes a candid approach to the ups and downs of parenting through the lens of humor that will resonate with dads\, moms\, and anyone who’s ever had a“fumble” in their life. \nJason K. Bussman earned his MFA in Creative and Professional Writing from Western Connecticut State University. He focuses on memoir for the most part\, but occasionally dabbles in the travel and sports writing. Occasionally\, he enjoys crafting a completely made-up story or maybe even a poem\, but he isn’t a fan of doing things he’s not that good at\, like golf.

SUMMARY:Chris Sciarrino - A Modern Approach to the Art of Our Ancestors
DESCRIPTION:A Modern Approach to the Art of Our Ancestors \nI have always been fascinated by the cave drawings\, symbols\, and mystical depictions of our ancestors. In my paintings and drawings\, I remove them from the darkness of caves or tombs and blast them with modern colors\, combining their different cultural icons and using them in unique settings to create their own narrative. It is up to the viewer to decipher the meaning.

SUMMARY:Paige Kleinfelder
DESCRIPTION:In my current oil paintings\, I focus on creating a realistic but idealized depiction of signs and structures by eliminating much of the environment in which the signs are found. These works showcase both still functional and now abandoned subjects in an effort to catalog local landmarks and preserve them for the future. I aim to capture a visual nostalgia of these signs and locations that possess the ability to conjure memories for those who view them. Rather than needing the audience to have connections to the specific locations\, the narrative created by the paintings recalls similar neighborhoods from town to town. \nPaige Hemke is best known for her intricate oil paintings and typography driven linoleum prints of abandoned structures in America’s Rust Belt. Hemke has exhibited throughout the US including a solo show at Crary Art Gallery in Warren\, PA and participation in group exhibitions at The State Museum of Pennsylvania in Harrisburg\, MD; Main Street Arts in Clifton Springs\, NY; Vestige Concept Gallery in Pittsburgh\, PA; and Elmira College in Elmira\, NY (where she received her BA in studio art and was awarded the Elizabeth Anne Graham Prize). Her work is part of several private collections. In addition to her own practice\, she is a passionate educator teaching classes The Hoyt Center for the Arts (where she works as the Assistant Education Coordinator). Paige Hemke lives and works in New Castle\, Pennsylvania. \nhemkestudio.com

SUMMARY:Author Gail Lynn
DESCRIPTION:Every good story is a journey. \nThe Heroine’s Journey is a detailed account of one woman’s reawakening that aligned her with the path of healing after suffering years of Lyme disease. Many have heard of the timeless secrets of the Law of Attraction and the Law of Cause and Effect that govern how thoughts become things and come to create our reality. Now\, here in this tale of compassion\, redemption\, and the triumph of love\, we see what that truth actually means as the heroine breathes life into her thoughts and words. \nFollow her on this journey of overcoming not only Lyme disease\, a mini-stroke\, and a heart attack but a lifetime of trapped negative emotion. What The Heroine’s Journey offers you in this precarious time of a global pandemic is a new perspective on illnesses and solutions.
