SUMMARY:Mugga Rose: Artist in Residence
DESCRIPTION:Cheyanne Disé\, also known as Mugga Rose\, is an artist\, author\, teacher\, and intuitive whose work spans sculpture\, painting\, film\, and performance. Her creative path began in the queer core underground of early 1990s San Francisco\, where she documented and participated in a vibrant culture through fanzines and collaborations with legendary queer icons. \nRooted in folklore\, fairytale\, and ancestral reverence\, her hand-sewn dolls and poppets are sacred vessels—painted\, stitched\, and assembled with care\, each one a portal of story and spirit. By 2010\, her art evolved into ceremonial performances offered in service to the community and collective transformation. \nA student of parapsychology since 1988\, Cheyanne is also a full-time evidential medium and intuitive life coach\, weaving mysticism and meaning into every aspect of her work. From San Francisco to Seattle to New Orleans\, her journey now finds her in the Catskill Mountains\, where she continues to channel beauty\, healing\, and old-world enchantment. \n\nThis June\, she brings a new installation and workshop to Lily Dale for Pride—an offering of presence\, memory\, and magic (June 12th-June 14th).

SUMMARY:Allison Hagan Artist in Residence
DESCRIPTION:Allison Hagan (June 19th – June 23rd) is a poet\, DJ\, and multidisciplinary artist born and raised in New York City. She moved away from the city for eight years\, only to realize she belongs somewhere after all. Her work explores existing in the middle between two worlds\, among other invisible things. She traverses eternal love\, collective memory and the quiet threads that bind humans together in a fractured society. She hopes to help people find a little slice of heaven when the world feels like hell. When she’s not writing (which is often)\, she spends her time in community\, thinking about power\, care\, and how we might build lives rooted in solidarity rather than isolation. SUMMARY:Amy Misurelli Sorensen Artist in Residence
DESCRIPTION:ARTIST STATEMENT \nAs an artist\, I emphasize drawing as thinking\, with concentrations in printmaking and performance. Currently\, my media focus is in relief printmaking. Relief Printmaking is the process of cutting into a surface of wood or linoleum in such a way that all that remains of the original surface is the image to be printed. Printmaking allows me to make multiples of an image on a variety of surfaces and engages a larger audience\, much like performance. \nAs a contemporary artist\, my work is concerned with distorted images of femininity and sexuality imposed by societal ideals. My images are provocative and graphic and act as commentary on how women are viewed in contemporary culture. I am interested in current events: themes of female empowerment\, vulnerability\, and the resistance of patriarchy. While I play with adornment\, I chose to be subversive and challenge expectations of beauty. \nMy research and work are influenced by feminist theory and everyday life. \nABOUT THE ARTIST \nAmy Misurelli Sorensen (June 20th – June 27th) is a professional artist\, art educator\, and curator who lives and works in Southeastern Wisconsin. She is passionate about art education\, art histories\, and arts impact on communities. She is committed to curating and exhibiting her work in provocative exhibitions that challenge visual culture and explore issues in society\, politics\, and art.

SUMMARY:Saira Siddiqui Artist in Residence
DESCRIPTION:Artist Bio \nSaira Siddiqui (July 13th – July 18th) is a multidimensional artist and muralist whose practice bridges intuitive linework\, henna traditions\, and contemporary painting. Her approach uses art\, culture\, and creativity to connect people to each other and their neighborhoods. As a trained facilitator with a decade of experience in community development and urban planning\, Saira designs participatory processes that invite residents to shape the stories\, colors\, and patterns that represent their shared spaces. \nRooted in her Eastern and Western upbringing—and in the balance of right‑ and left‑brain skillsets—Saira’s work explores belonging\, memory\, migration\, and collective identity. Her artistic path began with traditional mehndi (henna)\, a South Asian form of body art she grew up with\, and now centers painting and public art informed by community narratives and qualitative data gathered through dialogue and workshops. Abstracted and traditional henna motifs\, mapping themes\, and patterns found in nature thread through her visual language\, brought to life with bold\, vivid color. \nLeaning into her community engagement background\, Saira weaves together stories\, lived experiences\, and resident‑generated insights to inform both her studio work and her large‑scale public‑space projects. From community workshops to paint‑by‑numbers murals\, she builds inclusive\, vibrant experiences where community members co‑create and take ownership of their environments. Through this process\, Saira employs art as a tool for social change—cultivating spaces that feel welcoming\, reflective\, and genuinely connected. \n\nResidency goals \nDuring my residency at Sacred Grounds\, I hope to pursue two interconnected goals: \n(1) to deepen and expand my intuitive art practice\, and(2) to use linework and intuition as tools for meaningful engagement with the café community. \nMuch of my work as a public and community‑engaged artist has centered on translating other people’s goals\, stories\, and neighborhood identities into visual form. I am often guided by external narratives\, collective input\, and the lived experiences shared with me through workshops\, planning sessions\, or design processes. While this work is deeply fulfilling\, it also means my creative energy is frequently oriented outward—toward holding space\, listening\, supporting\, and interpreting. \nThis residency offers a rare and important shift: the opportunity to turn some of that attention inward. I want to focus more intentionally on my inner path\, inner worlds\, and personal motivations—strengthening the intuitive side of my practice and allowing my work to emerge from presence rather than production. Through one‑on‑one conversations with patrons\, intuitive linework sessions guided by the quieter\, slower day-to-day rhythms of Lilydale\, I hope to cultivate work that touches people in a different way while also reconnecting with my own artistic voice. \nAt the same time\, this residency aligns beautifully with my background in community engagement\, facilitation\, and relationship‑building. By grounding my intuitive practice in conversation and shared experience\, I can create approachable\, resonant interactions with the Sacred Grounds community. Linework becomes a bridge—between intuition and dialogue\, inner exploration and public connection. \nAlthough I am an established public and community‑engaged artist\, this is my first formal artist residency. I see it as a meaningful next step in my journey: a chance to reconnect with the intuitive roots of my practice\, explore new forms of expression\, and discover how my inner creative landscape can coexist with (and enrich) the community‑driven aspects of my work. I’m excited by the possibility of slowing down\, listening deeply\, and allowing this place—and the people who move through it—to inform the next chapter of my artistic evolution.

SUMMARY:Candice Grimes: Artist in Residence
DESCRIPTION:Artist Bio & Project Statement | Candice Grimes (Aug 24th – Aug 29th)\nCandice has a vast skill set which centers around thoughtful production design to\ncreate conceptual portraiture. Her work is heavily influenced by sci-fi and horror\nthemes which explore identity\, mysticism\, passage of time\, and personal\ntransformation. \nShe has earned a B.F.A. in Advertising Photography from Rochester Institute of\nTechnology as well as an A.A.S in Visual Communications from Monroe Community\nCollege. She currently works freelance as a photographer\, producer\, and art director in\nRochester\, NY. \nThrough my on-going personal project\, “Tarocchi\,” I have explored connecting to Spirit\nand the Divine through my work. Tarot is the art of interpreting ancient symbolism and\narchetypes to understand more about one’s self and their relation to the universe. With\nthis project\, I have used tarot imagery as a framework to express personal growth. I\nuse the technique of light painting with a long exposure\, where I am the light\, and\nphysically paint in areas to reveal their secrets from behind the shadows. This gives the\nimages an ethereal aesthetic which lends to the other-worldly subject matter.

SUMMARY:Gaia Woolf Nightingall Artist in Residence
DESCRIPTION:Blessings to you! (Sept 3rd – Sept 7th)I am a British born organic horticulturist\, arboriculturist\,permaculture designer\, creative writer and visual artist.Through my work I strive to inspire within the observer aricher\, more intimate connection with the natural world. My powerful elemental mandala paintings\, landscapedesigns and stories give us pause to observe\, experienceand acknowledge the fragility of the wild places.I find joy\, inspiration and reverence in the complexities ofearths sacred natural rhythms. The elemental forces of Air\, Fire\, Water and Earth\, that swirl and flow within the greatcauldron of creation\, manifest the perfect vessels for spirit to comprehend andexperience itself. This is the foundational motivation for my work.I celebrate the ecstatic manifestation of these sacred elements through bold and uniquehand painted mandalas. Each is delicately woven with a variety of ancient insularknotwork patterns\, integrating spiritual and artistic traditional practices with diversethreads. These threads transverse the centuries back to ancient Europe and a time whenart was the expression of devotion to the Divine.Further I am also a priestess and teacher within the Reclaiming Feri tradition\, an Earthbased spiritual path\, which teaches that Divinity is immanent and expressed within ourinner landscape\, and throughout the sacred universe. This along with my many creativeendeavours has helped guide me towards a more authentic experience of self and senseof balance with nature. And I am hopeful that my paintings may inspire you to seek adeeper connection with your Divine self and the sanctity of nature.Contact me at:gaiawoolfnightingall@gmail.comhttps://earthelementalart.comhttps//www.facebook.com/GaiaWoolfNightingallhttps//www.instagram.com/Gaiawoolfart
