DESCRIPTION:Join us at Lake Shore Center for the Arts for the April installment of the Songwriters Circle Series\, sponsored by Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation\, Thursday\, April 23rd @ 7:30PM and featuring singer/songwriters\, Jade Giambrone\, Chris LaVancher\, and Michael DeLano. \nTo be considered for Songwriters Circle\, singer/songwriters can apply here. \nJade Giambrone \nJade Giambrone is a spunky country singer/songwriter and recording artist from Cherry Creek\, NY. Her acoustic live set consists of performing eclectic music that spans multiple genres including country\, blues\, pop and captivating original songs. This spring you can catch her performing at several venues in the WNY area. She is very excited to be gracing the LSCFTA stage in April of 2026. \nChris LaVancher \nChris LaVancher’s performance evokes a mini-movie festival in your head\, complete with a full soundtrack. He writes cinematic\, character-driven songs.  His song Nostalgia from his second album\, Big Fat Love\, received an honorable mention in the 2018 Woody Guthrie Folk Festival Songwriting Contest.  In 2023 and 2014 Chris was selected as a Falcon Ridge Folk Festival Emerging Artist.  In 2024 he was a finalist in the Rose Garden songwriting contest \nChris grew up in a small town in the hills of North Central Pennsylvania where he learned to observe the many wonderful characters that inhabited that little town. Today he lives just north of Boston Massachusetts\, a Mecca for folk singers and songwriters\, but much of his inspiration still goes back to that little town in Pennsylvania. \nMichael DeLano \nMichael DeLano is an alternative rock singer-songwriter from Buffalo\, NY\, blending raw emotion with a modern edge. As the frontman of Sunday Reign\, he’s shared the stage at venues and festivals including South by Southwest\, Thursday & Main\, and Town Ballroom; \, earning a reputation for dynamic performances and an authentic connection with audiences. Michael’s music delivers anthemic hooks\, heartfelt lyrics\, and the kind of energy that sticks with you long after the last chord.

A working-class guy with a worn guitar and a voice full of soul\, he never chased the spotlight. But everything changed after his kids were born. Suddenly\, songwriting wasn’t just about chasing melodies – it became a way to make sense of life\, love\, and fatherhood. That renewed passion led to a sound that felt personal\, authentic\, and undeniably relatable. It wasn’t long before he caught the ear of several folks from Buffalo’s 106.5 WYRK\, setting the wheels in motion for something bigger. \nBacked by his powerhouse band\, Fuzzy & The Rustbelts\, Thurston has since built a reputation for raw\, heartfelt songs that live somewhere between country grit\, folk storytelling\, and rock ‘n roll spirit. Since forming in 2019\, the band has released two LPs\, two EPs\, and a steady stream of singles that have captured attention both locally and beyond. Their most recent album\, Out West\, earned over 25\,000 Spotify streams and opened to a sold-out release show. With honors like winning the WYRK Taste of Country Riser Competition and being named Best Country Act at the All WNY Music Awards three years in a row\, Fuzzy & The Rustbelts have taken the stage alongside the likes of Miranda Lambert\, Bonnie Raitt\, Allison Krauss\, Rodney Atkins\, and Willie Nelson-proving that the most powerful songs are still the ones that come straight from the heart. \nLara Herscovitch \nLara Herscovitch is singer-songwriter-poet-performer gem. As described in The Boston Globe\, she brings “a luminous voice and a buoyant stage presence… big-hearted lyrics embrace the sum of life… Herscovitch’s music blows on the embers of a lagging spirit or a dormant creative life.” \nSound Waves Magazine described her music as “expertly written prose… songwriting at its best… Lara gets it all done with her skillful songwriting – musical timing\, memorable melodies\, and compelling lyrics. It’s good for your ears AND your soul” – and with a voice Performer Magazine called “clear and smooth like expensive liquor.” \nThe wisdom in Lara’s artistry comes from her decades of humanitarian work\, focused on education\, community development\, environmental protection\, and justice system reform. The depth of this experience resonates throughout her music; as Acoustic Live in New York City described\, “She possesses not only a huge reservoir of musical talent and a voice with a bell-like clarity\, but a keen sense of global concern and a fierce intellect… It might seem too good to be true\, but true it is.” \nShe leads with authenticity\, integrity\, humor and heart. Her new album\, Highway Philosophers\, reflects about courage\, authenticity\, adventure\, healing\, love and loss\, the hero’s journey\, faith and freedom. Connecticut Public Radio host Colin McEnroe observed\, “Lara reminds us that music can be heroic when it springs from a strong heart. Walt Whitman would recognize his own soul in her expansive American vision\, and there really is no higher compliment I can pay an artist.” \nWilliam Downe \nWilliam Downe started playing traditional American and British folk music in high school talent shows and open mics in college. His early influences were Dylan\, Donovan\, Joni Mitchell\, Leonard Cohen\, Gordon Lightfoot\, Judy Collins\, Cat Stevens\, James Taylor and CSN&Y. He graduated with a degree in Theater Arts and devoted himself to a stage career from 1970-1999. \nRetired\, and an admirer of the newer generation of 80’s singer songwriters such as Bruce Cockburn\, Annie Lennox\, Peter Gabriel\, Mark Knopfler\, Cyndi Lauper and Sade\, he began playing at open mics in Tampa in the early 2000’s and writing songs relatively late in life. \nHe moved to Jamestown 10 years ago to be closer to his brother and started hosting an open mic as a way to meet local musicians and learn where to play in Chautauqua County. He’s thrilled to be invited to participate in this excellent Songwriter’s Circle and hope you will enjoy his eclectic mix of songs.

DESCRIPTION:Join us at Lake Shore Center for the Arts for the January installment of the Songwriters Circle Series\, sponsored by Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation\, Thursday\, January 15th @ 7:30PM and featuring three western New York singer/songwriters\, Tim Britt\, Kate Clark\, and Beave Sorenson. \nTo be considered for Songwriters Circle\, singer/songwriters can apply here. \nTim Britt \nTim Britt\, of Buffalo\, NY is a self taught musician who got his start playing as a teen in the local clubs in his hometown of Whitesboro\, NY. \nWith an engaging personality and vocals that range from a soft vibrato to a raspy rocker\, from an operatic falsetto to a mellow baritone\, this solo acoustic act continually proves he can entertain a vast audience\, and never fails to impress. His original songs have an appealing style of honesty with bluesy undertones\, and range from love songs\, to contagious crowd sing-alongs. \nHis ability to combine humor\, sensitivity\, emotion\, and true passion in his vocals\, with a percussive approach to guitar\, intricate finger work\, and a looping system that can layer harmonies\, rhythms\, and sound effects\, make this entertainer not only unique\, but a refreshing change to the music scene. \nKate Clark \nKate Clark is an active vocalist and multi-instrumentalist in the Buffalo music community\, playing most regularly with Almost Seamus and Uncle Ben’s Remedy (previously Rear View Ramblers\, CPX\, Stone Row).  She and her fiddle have also appeared in several theatrical productions in Buffalo (Ring of Fire; Once\, and most recently\, Come From Away). Sportsmens Americana Foundation’s Best Female Vocalist in 2018 and several Buffalo Music/Nightlife Awards for Original Female Vocalist. \nBeave Sorenson \nBeave Sorensen has been writing and performing as Leroy Townes for half of his life. The songwriting spark found him while he was working his first job as a paperboy and discovered a John Prine record at a garage sale. \nIn college\, the Leroy Townes Band took off and has released four albums and an EP. His new project\, The Blue Velvet Band sets its stage up back in Prine territory. Stay tuned for future releases.

DESCRIPTION:As a composer\, Western New York Bill Ward is perhaps best known for his vast catalog of original holiday songs. His acclaimed album\, The Christmas Sessions\, is but a tip of the iceberg compared to the breadth of those offerings. \nOn Friday\, January 2nd at 7:30 p.m.\, Lake Shore Center for the Arts will present “Christmas with Bill Ward and Friends.” Joining Bill will be multi-instrumentalists\, John Cross and Adam McKillip. \nCross has a vast resume as a composer\, bandleader\, and feature performer. McKillip\, himself an accomplished singer/songwriter\, currently tours with the hugely popular recording artists Smilo and the Ghost. \nThe event promises the audience a refreshing take on the holiday season.

DESCRIPTION:Join us at Lake Shore Center for the Arts for our 4th Songwriters Circle of the 2025/26 season on Thursday\, December 18th @ 7:30PM; featuring Molly Conrad (NY)\, Brooke Surgener (PA)\, and Rob Lytle (TX) sharing their songs and the stories behind the songs. The Songwriters Circle Series is presented by Northern Chautauqua Community Foundation. \nTo be considered for Songwriters Circle\, singer/songwriters can apply here. \nMolly Conrad \nMolly Conrad is an indie-folk pop singer/songwriter based in Buffalo\, NY. Originally from Iowa\, she spent a few years in Nashville recording and toured many parts of the U.S. as well as western Europe. She has four studio albums\, her most recent being “Light of the Dark”. Molly shares her many inner thoughts and relatable stories of heartbreak with honest\, introspective lyrics\, accompanying herself on acoustic guitar. Expect an unabashed authentic stage presence\, as Conrad loves sharing her truth\, however goofy or deep it might be. \nBrooke Surgener \nBrooke Surgener is an indie folk/pop artist from Erie Pennsylvania\, known for her bright soothing voice and performances that leave a lasting impact. Inspired by artists such as Katie Musgraves and Gabrielle Aplin\, the multi-instrumentalist writes from personal experience that connects the listener to a familiar feeling. Brooke’s most recent work is accompanied by expressive music videos found on her YouTube Channel. Songs like “Got It Good” and “In the Room” are a unique blend of indie vibes with catchy folk driven melodies. \nRob Lytle \nThe first thing you will notice is a voice that is effortlessly powerful and immediately intimate.  Rob’s voice has been compared favorably to artists such as Jackson Browne\, Jonathan Edwards\, and James Taylor for its unique clarity and seemingly effortless ability to navigate interesting melodies.  When combined with songs that move from humor to wry observation\, and to satisfying moments of recognition\, Rob has been described as “an irresistible artist\, the kind whose vocal tenderness and lyrical honesty compel you to listen.”
