SUMMARY:Mollie McKinley: Artist in Residence
DESCRIPTION:Creativity is alive and well at Sacred Grounds! We are so excited to announce our Artists in Residence for the 2026 season  \n\nNext up: Mollie McKinley  (Aug 17th – Aug 22nd) \n\nARTIST BIO: Mollie is an interdisciplinary artist based in the Hudson Valley\, working with photography\, light\, glass\, and sculpture to materialize the ethereal and visceral dimensions of nature consciousness. Grounded in research spanning hermetic alchemy\, disability studies\, and contemporary death practices\, her work challenges taboos around the grotesque within earthly embodiment. \n\nPROJECT STATEMENT: Returning to Lily Dale\, McKinley will photograph sites where elemental phenomena and non-bodied presence appear to converge: from tangles of dislodged water lilies\, to opaline blooms of diatoms along the wetland edges. \n\nCome see Mollie in Lily Dale at Sacred Grounds Coffee House the week of INSERT DATE  \n\n@mollie_mckinley

SUMMARY:Joseph Grice - Reverence
DESCRIPTION:“My bird paintings are a tether between the natural world\, and human emotion. Each piece represents a moment in time along the plot of a story both untold\, and well known. Determinism\, bravery\, wisdom\, strength\, beauty\, and joy are among the traits portrayed in these anthropomorphic characters. They are reflections of ourselves\, displaying traits and lessons that we can admire and live up to. They represent a reminder that clarity can come from the smallest of moments\, and that we are all connected to nature in an ancient way. These bird portraits explore what it means to be truly human\, through the lens of ornithological illustrations.”

SUMMARY:Historic Tours: Jamestown's Hidden Alleys
DESCRIPTION:Tucked away from view behind respectable facades\, alleys were indispensable elements in American cities during the last half of the nineteenth century. The “impolite” realities of the industrial movement were hidden from Victorian society. Jamestown had 5 alleys – what are their stories? Learn about them on the Hidden Alleys tour. \nParticipants will meet at the Fenton History Center at 10:00 a.m. \nThe Fenton History Center conducts historic walking tours from June to August. The cost is $8 for members and $12 for non-members. Participants can pre-register online\, at the Fenton\, or by phone at 716-664-6256. There is a limit of 20 people for each tour. \nFor the first time\, we are introducing the Full Circuit History Pass\, which provides individual access to all of the Fenton Historic Walking Tours throughout the 2026 season. Each pass is valid for one person. The cost is $50 for members and $80 for non-members. \nThank you to our sponsors: Rodgers Land Surveying\, Ahlstrom Schaeffer\, and Weber Knapp

SUMMARY:Candice Grimes: Artist in Residence
DESCRIPTION:Artist Bio & Project Statement | Candice Grimes (Aug 24th – Aug 29th)\nCandice has a vast skill set which centers around thoughtful production design to\ncreate conceptual portraiture. Her work is heavily influenced by sci-fi and horror\nthemes which explore identity\, mysticism\, passage of time\, and personal\ntransformation. \nShe has earned a B.F.A. in Advertising Photography from Rochester Institute of\nTechnology as well as an A.A.S in Visual Communications from Monroe Community\nCollege. She currently works freelance as a photographer\, producer\, and art director in\nRochester\, NY. \nThrough my on-going personal project\, “Tarocchi\,” I have explored connecting to Spirit\nand the Divine through my work. Tarot is the art of interpreting ancient symbolism and\narchetypes to understand more about one’s self and their relation to the universe. With\nthis project\, I have used tarot imagery as a framework to express personal growth. I\nuse the technique of light painting with a long exposure\, where I am the light\, and\nphysically paint in areas to reveal their secrets from behind the shadows. This gives the\nimages an ethereal aesthetic which lends to the other-worldly subject matter.
