SUMMARY:Comedy Open Mic @ Wicked Warren's Jamestown
DESCRIPTION:Starting Wednesday\, July 1st\, we’re opening the doors to a new weekly comedy open mic at Wicked Warren’s Jamestown. \nEvery Wednesday from 7PM to 9PM\, we’ll be upstairs on the 3rd floor in the new ballroom\, bar\, and stage area\, trying to do something simple and weirdly important: \nBuild the local comedy and art scene back up from the floorboards. \nThis is a comedian-focused open mic\, but all art is welcome. Comedy\, poetry\, storytelling\, music\, strange little performance experiments\, something you wrote on a napkin in a parking lot while your life briefly became a weather event. Bring it up. \nSign ups start at 6:30PM. \nEach performer gets 8 minutes. \nThere will be a 15 minute hard cap if the night allows for longer pieces\, but please plan for 8 unless told otherwise. \nIf you need anything beyond a mic\, stage\, and PA\, please let Paul Clemente know ahead of time. \nIf you want to sign up in advance\, let Paul Clemente know. \nIf you don’t know Paul Clemente\, get to know him. He is around. \nA few house notes: \nNo hate speech. \nWhen it is your turn\, please keep the setup to a minimum so we can keep the night moving. \nBe kind to first-timers. \nListen to the performers. \nSupport the room you want to exist. \nDepending on momentum\, we’ll try to make one Wednesday a month a mixed open mic focused on outsider art forms\, weird ideas\, unusual performances\, and the kind of creative stuff that does not always have a normal place to land. \nThis is for comics. \nThis is for artists. \nThis is for people who used to have a scene and miss it. \nThis is for people who never had one and want in. \nWednesdays at Wicked Warren’s. \n3rd floor. \n7PM to 9PM. \nSign ups at 6:30PM. \nLet’s see what we can bring back to life.

SUMMARY:RICK BRIGGS MEMORIAL — WORLD OF OUTLAWS LATE MODELS
DESCRIPTION: RICK BRIGGS MEMORIAL — WORLD OF OUTLAWS LATE MODELS  Powered by Dave Warren Golf Carts & Powersports Wednesday\, July 8\, 2026 (Rain Date: July 9)Stateline Speedway • Busti\, NY \nOn Wednesday\, July 8th\, Stateline Speedway once again takes center stage on the national dirt racing scene as the World of Outlaws Late Model Series makes its highly anticipated return for the Rick Briggs Memorial. It’s been three years since the Outlaws last roared across Stateline clay\, and their return represents one of the most significant racing events in the track’s modern era. \nThe $15\,000-to-win\, $1\,200-to-start event marks the eighth World of Outlaws Late Model race contested at Stateline since the series’ inaugural visit in 2005. In those seven previous appearances\, seven different drivers have claimed victory — John Blankenship (2005)\, Dick Barton (2006)\, Shane Clanton (2013)\, Brandon Sheppard (2018)\, Max Blair (2019)\, Dave Hess Jr. (2021)\, and Nick Hoffman (2023) — a testament to the competitiveness and unpredictability of this historic venue. \nThis isn’t simply another tour stop\, it’s a tribute to Rick Briggs\, a homecoming for elite racing\, and a return to the national spotlight. \n THE WORLD OF OUTLAWS — ELITE TALENT\, DEEP ROOTS \nThe World of Outlaws Late Models represent the highest level of dirt late model competition\, featuring championship-caliber drivers with decades of success at the sport’s top tier. The 2026 field will include some of the most accomplished names ever to compete on dirt\, blending national champions with drivers who helped define the identity of the series. \nThat group includes Outlaw veterans and regional standouts like Chub Frank\, along with Boom Briggs\, proudly continuing his family’s racing legacy. Adding even more significance\, the famed Briggs Transport #9 will be piloted by Tim McCreadie\, one of the most respected and versatile drivers in modern dirt racing — a combination that brings both national prestige and deep local meaning to the Rick Briggs Memorial. \nYet history has shown time and again: Stateline Speedway is no place for national stars to feel comfortable. \n WHERE LOCAL CHALLENGERS RISE \nStateline is renowned as a track where local Super Late Model drivers routinely challenge — and defeat — touring stars\, most notably when all-time Stateline winner Dick Barton turned back the Outlaws in 2006. The tight layout\, evolving racing surface\, and passionate crowd create an environment where experience and fearlessness matter as much as equipment. \nOn July 8th\, the Outlaws won’t just be racing each other — they’ll be defending their reputations against local aces who know every groove and every opportunity this track provides. It’s the classic clash of national prestige versus hometown determination. \n WORLD OF OUTLAWS FAN ZONE Fans can experience the full national-tour atmosphere with the World of Outlaws Fan Zone\, featuring official merchandise\, team gear\, sponsor activations\, and interactive displays that bring fans closer to the drivers and teams that make this series legendary. \n FULL RACING PROGRAM In addition to the World of Outlaws Dirt Late Models\, the night also includes: • UMP Modifieds — $2\,000 TO WIN • Pro Stocks A midweek program worthy of a national audience. \n STATELINE SMOKEHOUSE Fuel up with Stateline Smokehouse BBQ\, featuring:  Smoked Brisket  Pulled Pork  Smoked Wings Championship racing deserves championship BBQ. \n EVENT SCHEDULE  Pit Gates Open: 3:00 PM  Grandstands Open: 4:00 PM  Racing Starts: 7:00 PM \n This is more than a race — Join us as we honor Rick Briggs\, celebrate his legacy\, and welcome the World of Outlaws back to Stateline Speedway. \n Click “Interested” or “Going” — this is a night dirt racing fans will remember for years.

SUMMARY:Neil DeGrasse Tyson and Scott Hamilton Kennedy - Chautauqua Lecture Series
DESCRIPTION:World-renowned astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson and filmmaker Scott Hamilton Kennedy have twice joined forces to confront the twin crises of misinformation and science denial. Their documentaries — “Food Evolution\,” which resets the GMO debate\, and “Shot in the Arm\,” begun in 2019 as measles resurged and transformed by COVID-19 — show how narrative can rescue facts from the fog of controversy and rekindle public trust in science. \nThe pair will close the Chautauqua Lecture Series week dedicated to “Breaking the News: Charting a New Media Landscape” with a conversation on trust and media literacy\, with lessons and tips on how to be a good consumer of information and news. \nLearn more with the event  belowhttps://www.chq.org/…/neil-degrasse-tyson-and-scott…/

SUMMARY:Sandra Maggio - My Untouched Images
DESCRIPTION:The photographic works of Sandra Maggio will be installed in the stacks of the Patterson Library- 13 WALLS from July 10 to September 11\, 2026 these 13 works will be on view to the public and for sale during regular library hours. \n“No matter how much one may love the world as a whole\, one can live fully in it only by living responsibly in some small part of it. Where we live and who we live there with define the terms of our relationship to the world and to humanity.” \n-Wendell Berry\, writer and environmental activist \n\nOver the years I have become a naturalist through my photography. I have found I have developed a laser focus on our world and how human interference wreaks havoc on our environment. What all of this boils down to is the journey of becoming a naturalist. I now pay attention to the life cycles of both flora and fauna. Studying the ecosystems creates better respect for nature and a willingness to teach and interact more cohesively with the environment. There is more than an artful passion for my photography. It now is embedded with thought and purpose beyond the image. My current work in progress is the future publication of an art book that features poetry and nature photography\, entitled Finding Peace in Times like These. The inspirational images included have inspired the poetry that I have authored. The purpose of the book is also to de-stress its readers by viewing peaceful serene beauty and being lulled into a sense of calmness and reflection from the verses.

SUMMARY:Trombone Shorty @ Chautauqua Institution
DESCRIPTION:Few artists embody the heart and soul of their city like Trombone Shorty. Perhaps the most recognizable ambassador for New Orleans music working today\, Shorty has spent his entire life not only carrying the torch for Crescent City culture\, but also propelling it forward into the 21st century with his ecstatic live performances and intoxicating blend of rock\, funk\, soul\, jazz\, blues\, hip-hop\, and Caribbean influences. \nBorn Troy Andrews\, Shorty made his first appearance at New Orleans’ iconic Jazz Fest at the age of four\, when he took the stage for an impromptu performance with Bo Diddley. By six\, he was heading up his own brass band\, and by his early twenties\, he’d released the first in a string of critically acclaimed\, chart-topping albums that would lead to performances everywhere from the White House and the Grammy Awards to Madison Square Garden and the 2025 Super Bowl. \nLearn more with the event  belowhttps://www.chq.org/event/trombone-shorty-orleans-avenue/
