SUMMARY:Relax\, Renew\, Resonate - Yoga On The Stage
DESCRIPTION:$50 DONATION TO RESERVE A SPOT – LIMITED AVAILABILITY!https://reglenna.com/events/yoga-on-stage \nBENEFITS REG LENNA CENTER FOR THE ARTS \nJoin Kara Bemis and J.J. Gantenbein for an unique immersive experience of yoga\, deep relaxation\, and whole body revitalization. Together\, Kara and J.J. will provide attendees the opportunity to move\, breathe\, and decompress using a combination of Hatha Yoga\, Kundalini Yoga & Meditation\, and the healing vibrations of sound. This unique mini-retreat is open to all levels and will be held on the stage of the historic Reg Lenna Center for the Arts looking out onto the gorgeous theater. \nKara will start the night with Hatha yoga designed to have you move and breathe all while being mindful\, listening to your body\, and staying safe with appropriate versions of the poses for you. Hatha yoga involves longer holds to build heat in the body\, which will allow for better ease of finding length in the muscles and relaxation in the mind. The ability to get up and down from the floor is necessary for this portion of the experience\, \nJ.J. will then guide attendees through some Kundalini yoga movements and breath practices to foster greater awareness and prepare the body and mind to deeply relax while being bathed in the healing vibrations of their pair of beautifully tuned Paiste gongs. J.J. will wrap up the experience with a short meditation and a closing song. This is an experience not to be missed!

SUMMARY:Story Time @ The Lakewood Memorial Library
DESCRIPTION:We invite you and your little ones\, aged 2 to 5 years\, to Story Time\, where together we will explore new stories and themes every Tuesday and Friday at 10:30am. \nWe carefully curate a collection of age-appropriate tales that promises to transport children’s young minds to far-off lands and on extraordinary adventures. Through animated voices and interactive elements\, we aim to captivate even the most restless of imaginations. \nBeyond the joy of listening to stories\, these sessions offer many developmental benefits. By exposing your child to language-rich environments\, their vocabulary will expand\, language comprehension will improve\, and their cognitive abilities will flourish. \nThe social setting of story time encourages bonding with peers\, instilling early social skills and teaching valuable lessons in sharing and cooperation. \nAt the end of each session\, we welcome children to explore the fun offered in our children’s area from our diverse collection of children’s books to our interactive reading boat. So\, don’t miss out on this incredible experience for your child. Join us every Tuesday and Friday at 10:30am in the library gallery\, and together\, let’s sow the seeds of a lifelong love for literature and reading.

SUMMARY:Lark Milius - Once Upon a Papercut
DESCRIPTION:Gallery Artist Statement \nFairy tales have long resonated with me and remain a lasting passion. They have shaped who I am\, and in turn\, I use my craft to reimagine and render them through scissors and paper. Fairy tales contain straightforward narratives of good and bad that children can understand\, yet also have a rich complexity that engages adult contemplations. \nMy artistic process begins digitally\, where I design each piece by exploring key narrative moments or emotions within a tale. Once the composition is finalized\, I project the drawing onto a wall and trace it. I then carefully select from my collection of papers\, choosing those best suited to the piece. Each shape is meticulously cut and layered to create depth and dimension. At first glance\, the compositions may appear simple\, but closer inspection reveals intricate details within the layers\, much like the stories that inspired them. \nI am particularly drawn to stories of transformation and change\, grief and perseverance\, caution and courage. Through this work\, I aim to capture the timeless nature of these tales\, inviting viewers to experience a sense of enchantment and wonder as they explore the simple complexity of Once Upon a Paper-Cut. \n\nShort Bio \nLark has had a life long passion for art\, fairy tales\, and libraries. She is ecstatic that her first gallery show Once Upon a Paper-cut will be held in the Patterson Library Octagon Gallery March 27\, 2026 – April 23\, 2026. \nLark got her Bachelors degree in Art with an emphasis in Illustration at Brigham Young University-Idaho (2021). \nLark works full-time at a public library in North Carolina as a Youth Services Associate. She is currently pursuing a Masters in Library and Information Sciences at University of North Carolina-Greensboro.

SUMMARY:Exhibition Opening - Art that Matters to the Planet: Beyond Beauty
DESCRIPTION:Please join us for the opening of our first major exhibition of 2026\, Art that Matters to the Planet: Beyond Beauty. \nArt that Matters to the Planet explores the ways in which art and artists matter – by drawing us into a deeper relationship with nature\, opening hearts and minds to the critical challenges of our time\, and inspiring us to the solutions we need to address those challenges. \nEach year\, the theme for this exhibition draws inspiration from the work of Roger Tory Peterson\, typically his series of field guides. Our 2026 theme\, inspired by A Field Guide to Wildflowers\, is titled Art that Matters to the Planet: Beyond Beauty. This exhibition focuses on flowering plants across the country and what they can teach us through the dual lenses of science and art. More than just a pretty face (Stamen? Pistil? Calyx?)\, flowers play vital roles ecologically\, biologically\, culturally\, and spiritually. \nGuest juror Heeyoung Kim will be in attendance. Kim is a wildflower painter who contributes to public awareness about native plants and nature conservation. She is also the first living artist to be represented by the renowned natural history art gallery\, Joel Oppenheimer Gallery\, in downtown Chicago. \nYour ticket includes full access to the museum\, charcuterie\, and live music by Jade Giambrone. The RTPI bar offers a selection of wine\, beer\, cider\, and non-alcoholic beverages for purchase. \nCredit: Heeyoung Kim. Common Milkweed and Monarch (Bloom). Watercolor\, 2025.
