Zoning Code Update Community Walking Tour

With Jamestown’s Comprehensive Plan update nearing completion, the City is moving forward with the next step — a comprehensive update of its Zoning Code.

The Comprehensive Plan provides a long-term vision for Jamestown’s future. The Zoning Code is one of the tools used to put that vision into practice by guiding how properties can be used and developed throughout the City.

Zoning can affect where different types of housing and businesses are permitted, how existing buildings can be reused, and what types of development are allowed in different areas.

Jamestown’s current Zoning Code was adopted in 1998. While changes have been made over the years, housing needs, business activity, development patterns and approaches to redevelopment have continued to evolve.

Updating the code is an opportunity to modernize these regulations and better support housing, neighborhoods, businesses, redevelopment and investment in Jamestown.

COMMUNITY WALKING TOUR

Roseland Park — Fluvanna Avenue parking and entrance area

The tour will explore portions of Fluvanna Avenue and the North Main Street corridor to examine existing conditions, discuss current zoning challenges and consider potential improvements.

Residents, property owners, business owners and other interested community members are encouraged to participate.
