From his roots in San Francisco in the late 1960s, his band has become a defining force in American rock music for over half a century, selling tens of millions of records and amassing billions of streams. Influenced by jazz greats and blues legends, he has a string of legendary hits, including “Fly Like an Eagle,” “The Joker,” “Rock’n Me,” “Take The Money and Run,” and “Jungle Love,” to name a few. His passion for music education and preservation has led to the curation of blues programs at Jazz at Lincoln Center and contributions to exhibitions at the Met. The timeless appeal of his music has led to generations of new audiences, with millions of fans worldwide. As proof, in 2024, his hit single “Abracadabra” was certified platinum, more than 40 years after its release. His distinctive catalog will no doubt leave a lasting legacy on music history.
