Pride Sunday

On Sunday, June 8th at 10am, St. Luke’s will celebrate our fifth annual Pride Sunday service. This year, Pride coincides with the Church’s celebration of Pentecost. This is a fitting alignment, as Pentecost is the day when the Church commemorates the Holy Spirit’s outpouring on all believers: young and old, men and women, Jews and Gentiles, and people gathered in Jerusalem from a vast variety of nations. Following the lead of the Spirit, St. Luke’s works to see and nurture the gifts of all people, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or walk of life.
Gavin Card, who was one of St. Luke’s youth ten years ago and is now beginning the discernment process for ordination, will be the day’s guest preacher, and will reflect on the ways the church has been a source of safety, strength, and support in his spiritual and life’s journey as a member of the LGBTQ+ community. For the occasion, St. Luke’s children and youth, as well as faithful adult volunteers, have assisted in making special rainbow dove decorations for the church.
