Bugs are everywhere, but not every crawling, hopping, or flying animal without a backbone is an insect. Sometimes they are other types of invertebrates. Join ACNC to learn more about what body parts make an animal an insect and why invertebrates are so important to the other plants and animals in their habitats.

After a short indoor lesson where you can discover similarities and differences among invertebrates and meet some real insects, head outside to search for these animals at different stages of their life cycles by flipping logs and looking along the edges of ponds.

A snack is provided after the hike and a craft is offered if there is time.
