Katherine Kepner – Remembrance

13 WALLS- Katherine Kepner’s “Remembrance” is a curated selection of atmospheric watercolor studies.
I’ve been painting with watercolors since 2021 after giving up etch-a sketch and crocheting hats, (there is a story for another time.) I hardly did anything else with my time due to covid restrictions except practice my new found pastime of painting. By the time we were able to gather again, I joined a local art group and to my absolute surprise I won BEST in SHOW for a large painting of a marsh at the group’s spring show. It was such an encouraging experience that I continue my learning and painting and showing my work to this day.
This exhibit of my landscape paintings is a portrayal of places; places that are know and nearby, places that are memories and places that are only imagined. This work is less about documenting a particular moment in a place but the feeling that being in that place evokes for me and hopefully the viewer.
