John Candy Tribute Train Ride

Greetings, friends far and wide! For many, the classic Thanksgiving film Planes, Trains, and Automobiles is a holiday tradition.
Make that tradition a real-life memory and step into the world of the film by joining us on November 22 for one time only, to pay tribute to the great Canadian comedian, John Candy and ride the rails from the film.
– Ride in comfort aboard the historic New York & Lake Erie Railroad, on the very tracks used in the film. (2 hours, round-trip)
-While aboard, laugh until your sides split during a special presentation created to highlight John Candy’s role in the film.
-Listen as Conductor Robert “Bert” Dingman and friends share memories from filming almost 40 years ago.
-Stop at the historic South Dayton Depot and see props and memorabilia from the film.
-Have your picture taken with Del Griffith.
And that’s not all!
On November 25th, the NY&LE is working with local non-profits to bring aboard a group of special guests who, like Del Griffith, don’t have a place to call home. In the Spirit of John Candy’s kindness and generosity, we have made it possible to purchase a train ticket for one of these honored guests.
