On Wednesday, February 26th, at Brick Elephant Design (9 Summit St., Lakewood, NY), Loretta Cheney will facilitate a unique gathering for those interested in a taboo topic, death. Founded by Jon Underwood and based on the work of Bernard Crettaz, Death Cafes are, “group directed discussions of death with no agendas, objectives or themes.” All that is needed are curious, open-minded individuals willing to gather and discuss a topic most avoid, yet affects everyone.
Starting at 5:30pm, bring your own beverage, shareable snack (optional), and your thoughts, questions, fears, experiences, etc., to contribute to this intriguing conversation. This event is free and open to the public. No registration necessary. It is important to note this is not a bereavement or grief counseling event, though sometimes tears are shared.
Reach out to Loretta on Facebook or Instagram (@slowthetruckdown) or call/text 716-969-3617 with any questions. If interested in more information, check out www.deathcafe.com
