Chautauqua at 150: Wynton Marsalis’ All Rise

January 30 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

For 150 years, few places have made such an indelible imprint on the culture of this country as Chautauqua Institution. U.S. Presidents, celebrities, faith leaders, artists, activists, intellectuals, and generations of families have made the pilgrimage to this lakeside resort for its legendary Summer Assembly. Chautauqua at 150: Wynton Marsalis’ All Rise is a one-hour PBS documentary that celebrates the sesquicentennial of this iconic institution while exploring the ever-evolving definition of democracy through powerful stories and performances that have unfolded there. Join us for a special watch party at H.O. Hirt Auditorium on Thursday, January 30 at 6:30 p.m. with a discussion panel afterward with Chautauqua Institution staff and people who helped produce the film. This event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. Presented in partnership with Erie County Public Library.
