Bird Banding (All)
Pavilion on west side of ACNC property
Saturdays, April 26, May 3, May 10 and May 17, 2025
7:00 – 11:00 a.m.
No reservations required.
Join ornithologists on the west side of ACNC on Saturday mornings April 26 through May 17, weather permitting. Watch how they capture migrating and resident birds, fit them with identification bands, measure, weigh, and then release them.
Bird banding is an established technique used to discover details about the behaviors of birds. You can drop in any time between 7:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. to learn from the ornithologists exactly how it is done and why. If weather is too harsh for the safety of the birds, the nets are not opened and an alternate date is chosen.
Special Information: This program is open-house style. If the weather is inclement, the nets are not opened. No dogs.
Bird banding gives participants an up close look at birds and science in action. You can participate on four Saturdays as Audubon on April 26, May 3, 10, and 17.
