Come see our October gallery installation, “At home in nature.” Photographers Twan Leenders, Jan Bowman, and Jeanne Wiebenga will showcase some of the amazing flora and fauna that is at home in Chautauqua Co. Each of the species we highlight has a story to tell. They are all biological indicators, species whose unique environmental requirements give us a glimpse of how our nature is doing. Chautauqua Watershed Conservancy uses this information to identify the ecologically most valuable pieces of land in the county, but also helps guide management decisions and our habitat restoration efforts. More importantly, it gives visitors to the exhibit a sense of how fortunate we are to live in such a rich and diverse part of the world.
The opening reception will be October 9th at 5pm with a closing lecture from the Chautauqua Water Conservancy on October 30th at 5pm
