The public is invited to a flag raising ceremony and cultural fair at the Robert H. Jackson Center to start our observance of Native American Heritage Month and honoring the rich culture of the Haudenosaunee Friday November 8 from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.
The Jackson Center will fly the Six Nations flag, which represents the unity of Mohawk, Oneida, Onondaga, Cayuga, Seneca, and Tuscarora nations, throughout the month.
The ceremony will include remarks from representatives of the Seneca Nation and New York State, a land acknowledgment, and cultural fair featuring traditional indigenous dishes, and art.
Attendees can enjoy food that celebrates the culinary heritage of the Haudenosaunee and reflects the region’s rich agricultural history. Indigenous art will be on display, and craft workshops will be available for public participation.
