A Bright Room Called Day – Play Reading and Discussion

October 24 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm

Madness Most Discreet in partnership with the Robert H Jackson Center and the Jamestown Justice Coalition brings Jamestown a one-night staged reading of Tony Kushner’s A Bright Room Called Day followed by a panel discussion and audience talkback. This event will explore themes of resistance, political responsibility, and the cyclical nature of authoritarianism through Kushner’s sharp, surrealist lens.

Where: The Carl Cappa Theater at the Robert H Jackson Center
When: Friday October 24th, 2005- Doors 6pm, Reading 6:30pm, Discussion 8:30pm.
What: Tony Kushner’s A Bright Room Called Day follows five artists navigating the fall of the Weimar Republic in 1930’s Berlin. As the characters grapple with the rise of fascism, Kushner parallels Reagan Era political ideology. A surrealist exploration of resistance in the face of societal catastrophe, A Bright Room Called Day challenges audiences to confront the question of political responsibility and what the cost of political denial may be.
