On Wednesday, August 28th, at Eight Limbs Wellness Studio (141 Chautauqua Ave, Lakewood, NY), Loretta Cheney will host a unique gathering for those interested in a taboo topic, death. Founded by Jon Underwood and based on the work of Bernard Crettaz, Death Cafes are, “group-directed discussions of death with no agendas, objectives or themes.” All that is needed are curious, open-minded individuals willing to gather and discuss a topic most avoid, yet affects everyone. Starting at 5:30pm, participants are encouraged to bring thoughts, questions, fears, experiences, (and possibly a snack) etc., and invited to contribute to a most intriguing conversation. It is important to note this is not a bereavement or grief counseling event.
