Alissa Eberle: Artist in Residence

July 27 @ 9:00 am - 7:00 pm

Alissa Eberle (July 27th – Aug 1st) is a visual artist, full-time neon bender, and sign fabricator living and working
in Philadelphia PA. Originally from Lowell Massachusetts, Alissa studied at the School of
the Museum of Fine Arts Tufts University, graduating with a BFA in Studio Art.
Her artistic practice took a transformative turn while living in New Orleans, earning an
opportunity to apprentice at Neometix Neon, where she first explored the mesmerizing
craft of bending neon glass. Relocating to Philadelphia PA, Alissa continued on her path
to becoming a neon bender apprenticing under Dom Urbani at Urban Neon, working out in
the sign shop during the day, doing metal work and practicing neon bending after hours at
night.

Intrigued by neon’s enigmatic and otherworldly qualities, Alissa embraced the challenge of
working in this medium as both an artist and a tradesperson. She finds perpetual
opportunities for mental growth and tests of patience working with glass; the difficulty of
neon is what makes it all the more fulfilling for her.
Recently, she was in shows at the Akron Art Museum, Urban Glass, Nicolaysen Art
Museum, and Moisturizer Gallery. Her work has also found a place in numerous private
collections and in the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.
