The Chautauqua County Beekeepers Association will conduct its 3rd annual Introduction to Bees and Beekeeping event on Saturday, January 11, 2025 from 12 Noon – 4 P.M. at the Fluvanna
Community Church, 3363 Fluvanna Avenue in Jamestown.
The event will feature seminars geared for the beginning hobbyist, though the experienced
beekeeper will find ample reward. No previous experience in beekeeping is required. The event is open to the public free of charge.
At 12 Noon, club members will conduct a show-and-tell discussion of the basic equipment and protective clothing required to get started in beekeeping.
At 1 P.M., attendees may choose between two concurrent talks: A Year in the Bee Yard,
discussing the seasonal progression of beekeeping chores; and Making Salves, Balms and
Candles with Bees Wax.
At 2 P.M., the 1 P.M. talks will be repeated.
At 3 P.M., a plenary panel discussion will explore the opportunities and challenges for the 2nd year beekeeper.
Questions will be encouraged. Attendees will have ample opportunity to chat with club members about beekeeping and about club activities.
