Acclaimed Broadway star Nick Adams comes to the Opera House for a very special evening of songs from the Broadway stage and the Great American Songbook.
Earlier in the day, Adams will lead a master class with musical theatre students at the State University of New York at Fredonia at 2 p.m. in Rosch Recital Hall. The master class is free and open to the public.
Adams is a native of Erie, PA, and is most known for originating the role of Adam/Felicia in the Tony Award-winning Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. For his performance he was named an American Theater Hall of Fame honoree, received two Broadway Audience Choice Awards, and an Astaire Award nomination.
Currently starring in the Off-Broadway production of DRAG: The Musical as Alexis Gillmore, a role he originated in the successful Los Angeles premiere of the show, he also has been seen on Broadway in A Chorus Line, Guys and Dolls, Chicago, the Tony Award-winning revival of La Cage Aux Folles, and The Pirate Queen. He played Whizzer in the North American tour of Lincoln Center Theater’s revival of Falsettos, and was Fiyero in the first national tour of Wicked.
On film, he starred as Cooper in the Emmy-nominated Fire Island, which won the cast an ensemble Gotham Award. Other TV and film credits include The Holiday Exchange, The Other Two, Sex and the City 2, An Englishman in New York, As the World Turns, Guiding Light, and It Could Be Worse.
Adams has been seen in concert with the New York Pops, Boston Pops, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Baltimore Symphony, Naples Philharmonic, Erie Philharmonic, and The National Arts Center Orchestra of Canada. He received a BFA at Boston Conservatory.
