On Wednesday, November 20th, at Brick Elephant Design (9 Summit St., Lakewood, NY), Loretta Cheney will facilitate a unique gathering for those interested in a taboo topic, death. Founded by Jon Underwood and based on the work of Bernard Crettaz, Death Cafes are, “group directed discussions of death with no agendas, objectives or themes.” All that is needed are curious, open-minded individuals willing to gather and discuss a topic most avoid, yet affects everyone.
Starting at 5:30pm, participants are encouraged to bring thoughts, questions, fears, experiences, etc., and invited to contribute to this intriguing conversation. This event is free and open to the public. No registration necessary. You are encouraged to bring your own beverage and a shareable snack as part of the charm of Death Cafes is the creation of community over food and drink. It is important to note this is not a bereavement or grief counseling event.
Loretta Cheney is excited to invite you to our fifth gathering, graciously hosted by Laurie Shults, owner of Brick Elephant Design. Reach out to Loretta on Facebook or Instagram (@slowthetruckdown) or call/text 716-969-3617 with any questions. If interested in more information, check out www.deathcafe.com
