Come play outside on the trails, in the Nature Center and in spaces designed for kids. There are outdoor and indoor nature play areas. The Green Play Area with mud kitchen, water wall, loose parts, and more will be open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Nature Center with Interactive Exhibits and play areas is open from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Young children (ages 2 – 6) and their favorite adult(s) can drop in on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. to enjoy Audubon’s Green Play Area. Materials may change with the weather and season. An educator or volunteer will be available throughout the day to assist but adults must supervise their children.
Unstructured play outside is beneficial to a child’s physical and mental development as well as their understanding and appreciation of the natural world. However, concerns about safety, location, materials, and the value of play are often barriers in creating these experiences. This open-house style program aims to inspire both kids and adults to make discoveries and feel more comfortable about the natural world through play.
Be prepared to play outside. Wear clothes and footwear that can get wet and dirty. You may want to bring an extra change of clothes or a towel for the car ride home. Adults are required to stay with their children. Parents may want to bring a chair, snacks and water or a drink. In the case of severe weather, the Green Play Area will close.
