On Wednesday, September 25th, at the Lakewood Library (12 W. Summit St, Lakewood, NY), Loretta Cheney will host a unique gathering for those interested in a taboo topic, death. Founded by Jon Underwood and based on the work of Bernard Crettaz, Death Cafes are, “group directed discussions of death with no agendas, objectives or themes.” All that is needed are curious, open-minded individuals willing to gather and discuss a topic most avoid, yet affects everyone. Starting at 5:30pm, participants are encouraged to bring thoughts, questions, fears, experiences, (and possibly a snack) etc., and invited to contribute to a most intriguing conversation. It is important to note this is not a bereavement or grief counseling event.
Loretta Cheney is excited to invite you to our third gathering, graciously hosted by the Lakewood Library. Reach out to Loretta on Facebook or Instagram (@slowthetruckdown) or call/text 716-969-3617 with any questions.
